Short Term Accommodation (STA)/ Respite
Short Term Accommodation (STA), also known as Respite, is an NDIS service that provides temporary accommodation and support for individuals with disabilities. It is designed to give both the person with a disability and their primary carer a break from their usual living arrangements and caregiving responsibilities. Respite can be provided in various settings, including group homes, respite centers, or through in-home support services. Purpose: The primary goal of STA/Respite is to offer relief to the primary caregiver, such as a family member, and to provide the person with a disability with an opportunity to engage in social activities, build independence, and experience a change of environment. Support: During STA/Respite, individuals may receive assistance with daily activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and participation in recreational or social activities. The level of support is tailored to the person's needs and preferences.
