Short Term Accommodation (STA)/ Respite

Description: Short Term Accommodation (STA), also known as Respite, is an NDIS service that provides temporary accommodation and support for individuals with disabilities. It is designed to give both the person with a disability and their primary carer a break from their usual living arrangements and caregiving responsibilities. Respite can be provided in various settings, including group homes, respite centers, or through in-home support services.

Purpose: The primary goal of STA/Respite is to offer relief to the primary caregiver, such as a family member, and to provide the person with a disability with an opportunity to engage in social activities, build independence, and experience a change of environment.

Support: During STA/Respite, individuals may receive assistance with daily activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and participation in recreational or social activities. The level of support is tailored to the person’s needs and preferences.

  • Assessment and Planning:

MMT Health begins the process of providing Short Term Accommodation (STA) or Respite services with a comprehensive assessment. This assessment involves not only the individual with a disability but also their family and any healthcare professionals involved. The assessment helps us understand the specific needs, preferences, and goals of the individual during their stay.

  • Skilled Staffing:

For STA or Respite services, MMT Health employs a team of highly skilled and trained support workers who are experienced in providing short-term care and accommodation. These staff members are equipped to handle various needs, including personal care, emotional support, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment.

  • Individualized Support:

Our approach to STA and Respite services is highly individualized. We tailor the support to meet the unique requirements of each individual during their stay. This may include assistance with activities of daily living, medication management, recreational activities, and any other specific needs identified in the assessment.

  • Monitoring and Review:

MMT Health places a strong emphasis on monitoring and reviewing the individual's experience during their STA or Respite stay. Regular check-ins and assessments are conducted to ensure that the support provided remains effective and that any necessary adjustments are made promptly.

  • Coordination with Other Services:

We understand that individuals who require STA or Respite services may also have ongoing care and support needs. MMT Health collaborates with other healthcare services and providers to ensure seamless coordination of care, especially when individuals transition between short-term accommodation and their regular living arrangements.

  • Flexibility and Choice:

MMT Health respects the principles of choice and control outlined by the NDIS. We work closely with individuals and their families to create a supportive and comfortable environment that aligns with their preferences and needs during their stay.

  • Quality and Safety:

Quality and safety are paramount in our delivery of STA and Respite services. We adhere strictly to NDIS quality and safety standards, ensuring that the short-term accommodation provided is safe, comfortable, and of the highest quality, promoting the well-being of the individual.
